I'm sure I come out like the big asshole in that situation, but the guy was trying to rip you off. NO WAY was he in the red $1400 for a low traffic php vbulletin message board. I was not proclaiming that DH should "get something for nothing", but his offer of $2000 a year or $1000 with ads was absolutely ridiculous.

I was very surprised to see MH relented....probably because he knew the domain wasn't worth near that amount. Don't know if I'll be back even after it moves, everyone probably hates me by now.

I'm an amateur with relatively little experience, but by way of comparison my avantgardeproject.org site costs me about $60 per year for hosting, and that gets me over 150GB HD space and up to 1500GB bandwidth per month. I donate a bit of my own time maintaining the site. My sense is that forums more or less maintain themselves except for the occasional crisis.

That said, Deadhook also provided streaming audio, which may be a more expensive proposition.

I've forwarded the link for avantegardeproject.org to a number of people who were all suitably impressed and excited. I'd personally like to thank you because my vinyl copy of 4'33" skipped so that it actually came to 26'11".

Seriously, great work and resource.

Bender, I doubt anybody at Deadhook hates you. Tempers flared and things were said that would've been better left unsaid. (SH)It happens!

I really missed alot.

This is sorta like the Energizer Bunny--it keeps going, and going (ie, talking about Hook). Of course, I am still very curious, but appears that my worry about the little post of mine was minutes before the "big freeze" so I'll never know what folks thought--ie, should cheapskates stay or go?

Trust you can give me (us) an update now and again as to how things go in the (Brave?) New World hookers make; I wish them (you) all the best.

BTW, did this really happen while the original site guy was more or less out of it with medical difficulties and Fred was out of the country?

Billy T.

Don't remain on the dark side only. It's an ok place where the assholes actually stand out from the rest.

Course if GoP and UU and grendles' and all are here maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Don't know what I'm going to do.

The Dark side?

"maybe it wouldn't be so bad"

Then it should be a pretty easy decision for you Max...

Hey DM! Good to see you this side of Hell. Or whichever it is. I can never be sure.

Give my regards to Beka. But, I hope to see you hereabouts for the time being.

Well luckily I was never that warm and fuzzy. I just like the way you can "bump" a post over there and it floats to the top. Plus the pictures and all.

I've been checking in over here for the past couple of months just to see how everyone is doing.

what's the one where at the end, bob says to the crowd, "the hero died" always found that funny for some reason.
